Trogir, Hvar & Split
Four nights down the Dalmatian coast, from the medieval lanes of Trogir to Hvar and Split's Roman old town. The stops balance history, island life and a city with enough going on to warrant more than a night. An ATV climbs the hills above Trogir for wide Adriatic views, and e-bikes on Hvar wind through vineyards and quiet inland roads to beach stops and swims. In Split, an evening runs through the narrow lanes of Diocletian's Palace and along the waterfront to a rooftop dinner.
A last-minute window before the boys' summer jobs, with days built around activity and downtime after a year away at school.
This trip came together at the last minute. My eldest son had planned to travel with friends, but when those plans fell through, we started looking at where the two of us could go instead. His younger brother quickly asked to join, and suddenly we had a short window to travel as a trio before their summer jobs began.
With the boys, I knew the days needed to stay active, built around adventure and adrenaline, making ATVing and e-biking an easy fit. We balanced this with downtime to relax poolside, wander and simply reset after a year away at school.
