Chicago, IL
This Chicago trip brought together the city at its most sporting: the NFL, the NBA and the NHL in four nights between Christmas and New Year's. Days went to the river and the architecture that rose after the Great Fire, to Cloud Gate, deep dish and the shops of the Magnificent Mile, and evenings to the games. A luxury hotel on the river was the base to come back to each night.
The Seahawks playing the Bears on December 26, with two fans in the family, set the trip; Bulls and Blackhawks games and the drive from Toronto followed.
Four nights in Chicago between Christmas and New Year's, the five of us, with three professional sports games on the itinerary. Our two younger boys are big Seattle Seahawks fans, and with the Seahawks playing the Chicago Bears on December 26, we started looking at what else was happening in the city over the holidays and found we could also catch a Bulls game and a Blackhawks game. We drove from Toronto, and with three games to work around, I wanted somewhere central and comfortable where we could all come and go easily. If I was going on an all-sports road trip, I wanted some luxury along the way, so we booked adjoining club rooms at a five-star hotel on the river.
