I'm happiest exploring somewhere new, ideally far from crowds: mountains, coastlines, hidden villages, anywhere off the beaten path. I usually travel with my husband Dave and our boys, Ryan and Blake, now in their early twenties, and nothing beats sharing those "wow" moments with the people you love.
For me, a good trip is about balance: mixing luxury with simpler experiences, downtime with activity, vibrant city life with remote places. The best trips connect you with locals and give you a real sense of a place. I love adventure: hiking, water sports, and boat trips are always a family favourite, and the occasional adrenaline rush, like canyoning or ATV rides.
Years of family travel have taught me two things: indecision stifles a trip, but so does over-planning. I come armed with a solid plan plus plenty of optional activities and restaurants, so we can go with the flow and change things up when the moment calls for it. What matters is the meaningful time spent together, and coming home knowing you've truly experienced more of the world.
