Florence
Three nights in Florence found an easy rhythm between planned days and free ones. Afternoons wandered up from the Arno to the San Lorenzo stalls and leather workshops behind Santa Croce. A morning on the river slipped beneath the Ponte Vecchio in a wooden boat, and a Renaissance palazzo opened its doors with champagne and stories from the family still living there. Sunset came from Piazzale Michelangelo, the city below. A reminder of how much Florence gives in a few days.
An invitation to come along on a work conference in Florence, and a chance to see the city from behind some of its closed doors.
This trip came about through my husband's work. He had a conference in Florence and I went along, so it was just the two of us for three nights. Much of our itinerary was organized through the conference, including opportunities to visit places we might never have discovered on our own. We also had time to explore independently.
