Hacienda de San Antonio

Comala, Mexico

Countryside Estate Condé Nast Traveler Awards
Worth Building Around

A 19th-century coffee plantation in the highlands of Colima, with an active volcano as its backdrop. That's the setting. The hacienda itself, just 25 individually designed suites on a 5,000-acre working ranch, does the rest. Dairy, produce, honey and coffee all come from the property's own farm. Evenings glow under candlelight, with mariachi on the terrace and private dinners beside crackling volcanic stone fireplaces. Days are spent on horseback, by the pool, or exploring the ranch by quad. Elegant without being fussy, and rooted in a history that actually earns the word authentic.

What It Is

A historic Mexican estate that has never stopped working.

What It Is Not

An all-inclusive. The activities are there but come at a price.
