Hotel Espléndido

Port de Sóller, Spain

Beach + Coast Boutique Hotel
Worth Landing On

Port de Sóller is a horseshoe bay on Mallorca's northwest coast, and the Espléndido sits directly on its seafront promenade, with the vintage tram to Sóller passing the front door. Built in 1954 and refreshed in a style that blends retro coastal charm with Scandinavian restraint, the hotel has garden- and sea-view rooms, most with their own terrace or balcony for watching the boats and the light shift across the bay. Two outdoor pools sit in terraced gardens above the waterfront, including an adults-only infinity pool, and a spa with indoor pool and hammam handles the quieter hours.

What It Is

A 1954 seafront hotel on the promenade, with the vintage tram at the door and the bay at the window.

What It Is Not

For those after slick, design-forward luxury. This is character and setting over five-star polish.

Worth Landing On

When the Sóller area is on the itinerary and the harbour setting suits over a more polished resort.
