The Torridon

Torridon, Scotland

Countryside Estate Condé Nast Traveler Awards
Worth Considering

A Victorian shooting lodge on 58 acres above Loch Torridon, with the ancient sandstone hills rising on all sides and Highland cattle grazing the grounds. The estate has its own farm and kitchen garden, a gin garden, archery and croquet on the lawn, walking trails that launch directly from the property, and an adventure centre covering kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and fishing. The Michelin-starred restaurant 1887 draws on what the estate grows. The whisky bar stocks 365 malts. You are deep in the Highlands, far from anywhere else, and that is entirely the point.

What It Is

A self-contained Highland estate where the grounds and activities are much of the draw.

What It Is Not

A place to restaurant-hop.
