Under Canvas Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon, U.S.A.

Wilderness + Safari Uncommon Stay and Nature Lodge Travel + Leisure Awards and Condé Nast Traveler Awards
Worth Landing On

Safari-style canvas tents on 160 acres of piñon and juniper forest, 25 minutes from the Grand Canyon's South Rim. King beds, wood-burning stoves, and ensuite bathrooms sit inside the tents; outside, a DarkSky-certified camp with no wifi, no televisions, and skies dark enough for real stargazing. Meals are served under a peaked canvas roof, and the programming, from campfire s'mores to morning yoga, runs on inclusion rather than upcharge. The canyon is the draw. The camp makes sure you sleep well before and after it.

What It Is

A camp that takes the Grand Canyon's night sky as seriously as its daytime views.

What It Is Not

A hotel. There is no wifi, no electricity, and canvas between you and the desert.

Worth Landing On

When the Grand Canyon is the trip and canvas walls, wood smoke, and a dark sky are the version of it you want.
