St. Barts

Lurin

Beach + Coast Family Trip February 2025

Built for a slower week, this is St. Barts as a place to live in the warmth for a while. The meals are the activity, long beach-club lunches as much as dinners. A central Lurin base keeps every drive short, the villa poolside carries the days and the water still gets its due with a catamaran sail to an offshore island and a fishing run. One evening ends on the sand with a sunset picnic after a coastal walk.

Behind the Route

A reading-week return with the boys at 19 and 22, one recovering from a torn ACL and a parent half-working: the island they remembered, rebuilt around restaurants, little else needing pre-booking.

Best For Families with adult kids after understated chic, where the next meal sets the plan.

This was our second trip to St. Barts, built around a university reading week, and booked less than a month in advance. Our youngest, in second year university, was recovering from a torn ACL, our eldest was in his gap year between university and law school, and my husband had to work through a good chunk of it, so we wanted somewhere easy and low key that would still entertain the boys and give us some family time. We all had good memories of the island from ten years earlier, the boys were old enough now to enjoy the restaurants, and we knew a villa week here didn't require a lot of pre-booking. We could kind of just go with the flow.
