Iceland
Golden Circle & Blue Lagoon
A long weekend in Iceland's volcanic terrain, balancing dramatic natural spectacle with the spa. Days out reach the Golden Circle's waterfalls and erupting geysers, and go down inside the chamber of a dormant volcano. Back at the hotel, moss-covered lava fields ring a milky private lagoon, with silica mud masks and mineral soaks in between. Lunch comes among the vines of a tomato farm, and the last dinner is at a restaurant that has since earned a Michelin star.
A milestone anniversary trip built around design, privacy and spa, with the Golden Circle for activity and a private lagoon retreat as the reason to go.
My husband surprised me with this trip for our 20th anniversary, and his criteria were specific: design-focused, spa-oriented, completely private but close enough to the Golden Circle to experience Iceland's dramatic scenery. A private spa hotel on the lagoon delivered on all counts, just 20 minutes from the airport.
